For a professional business website, you’ll want to use high quality images that accurately represents your content. If your budget allows you to hire a professional photographer, that would be ideal so you can have unique and custom photos on your website. Otherwise, a good alternative is to use paid or free stock photos. There are many free resources for finding great stock photos. Below is a list of websites that contain free stock photos and videos.
Tip: Don’t randomly download photos and graphics using Google’s image search because many of them are copyright protected. If you use them, you may end up receiving a letter from a law firm along with an expensive fine for copyright infringement.
Where to find free stock photos…
- Pixabay – A very popular site that has been around since 2012, this is usually one of the first places that I check when looking for a graphic or photo. They also have free video clips too.
- Unsplash – Another site that I’ve used quite a bit in the past. A good solid collection of high quality photos. This site was created in 2013 by Montreal-based entrepreneur Mikael Cho.
- Pexels – This site has a good amount of free photos and videos, though I’m not a fan of their infinite home page scroll of photos.
- Free Images – Another large collection of free photos that are neatly organized. This site was launched way back in 2001.
- PicJumbo – A smaller collection of photos but they are still very good and high quality. They may have just what you’re looking for.
- Gratisography – If you’re looking for something different or creative, you may want to check out their interesting collection of photos.
- New Old Stock – Amazing collection of older photos from the past, definitely worth checking out if you need some vintage imagery.
- Foodies Feed – As the name implies, if you’re looking for photos for your restaurant website or need any food-related images, this is a great place to look.
- Life of Pix – This site reminds of Unsplash, when they first got started. A small collection of very high quality photos.
- RGB Stock – Haven’t used this site before but they boast a large collection of free stock photos.
- Picography – Another smaller collection of high quality photos.
- ISO Republic – This site has a good size collection of free stock photos and videos.
